M208 Results Out

The results for my Open University Maths courses are out.

On M208, I got 99% on the exam and overall I got a distinction.

On MS221, I got 97% on the exam and overall I got a distinction.

On MST121, I got 97% overall and that counts as a pass.

MST209 MS324

I have signed up for the Open University Maths Courses MST209 and MS324 beginning in February 2012.

They are worth 90 points, and will take me up to 210 points. I need 360 for a degree.

MS221 Exam

The exam took place for the MS221 course in my Open University Maths degree.

I managed to do all 16 questions in 2.5 hours. It is strange to think that I now have no OU work until February.

M208 Exam

This took place in Chester Racecourse today. I hope it went well. I had to spend almost the entire 3 hours doing it, leaving myself very little time to check over for errors.

On the Open University Maths Course, MS221, I got 96/100 for the final Tutor Marked Assessment, TMA04

This means I averaged 97 percent.

TMA07 M208

I got my TMA07 back for the Open University Course M208

I got 93/100, which means that overall I averaged exactly 90%

Revising for exams

At present, I am revising for my Open University M208 exam.

I am not used to revising for exams. I hardly ever did it in the past with the exception of Chemistry A-Level.

I am using the same revision software that I give to my students for their studies.

Two more GCSE results reported

One of my students got an A in her latest GCSE module. She used to be a C grade before lessons.

Another got a C, just 4 marks from a B. She was a D before lessons, so she is making progress.

More results reported

One of my students got an A*,and another got an A.

Sadly, two students got a C, when I was hoping for a B.

And two of my students got a D in Foundation, just missing a C. The mark for C in one exam was 48/55, which is very high.

It is very hard to get a C in the Foundation paper. I will suggest that students wanting a C enter the Higher exam.

M208 TMA06

On the Open University Maths Course M208, I got 92/100 for Tutor Marked Assessment 6.

It seems I now just need 51/100 on the final TMA for a distinction on that part of the course.

MST121 Open University Maths

On the Open University Maths Course MST121, I got 100% on the Computer Marked Assessment CMA41

Two more results

Two of my students reported results today.

One got an A at AS Level and a B in Further Maths.

The other got a high C in GCSE. I had been hoping for a B for her.

Some of my students have reported their recent A and AS-Level results.

One of them got a B overall, which was what he predicted.

Two others got an A.

Another got an A in additional maths.

I scored 90/100.

I dropped quite a few marks for carelessly writing the wrong symbol, thus making my answers wrong. Dumb or what?

In the Open University Maths Course, M208 TMA03 about Linear Algebra, I got 92/100.

I dropped 4 marks for leaving a duplicated row in a matrix, although all the answers to the equations were correct. A bit harsh marking, I would say....

MST121 TMA02

On the Open University Maths Course, TMA02 for MST121 , I got 93/100.

Most marks were dropped on the questions involving Mathcad.

Latest GCSE results

One of my students, who has severe learning difficulties, has worked really hard and got 52 out of 69 in her GCSE Module. This is a grade C, although she was forecast to be a D student.

GCSE Resit Exam Results

2 of my students did GCSE resits and got their results back on Thursday.

One went from a D before lessons with me to a B.

The other went from a C before lessons with me to an A.

Congratulations to both of them.

MS221 TMA01

I got my MS221 TMA01 back from the tutor today for my Open University Maths Course.

I got 99%. I dropped one mark because I did not put on axis of symmetry on a drawing of an ellipse.

TMA02

I got my TMA (Tutor Marked Assessment) for TMA02 back in the M208 Open University Maths Course. I got 91%. I dropped a couple of silly marks by not answering one of the bits of the questions. That was dumb.

MST121

MST121 has a computer marked assessment on statistics.

I submitted my answers today. I hope they are OK!

M208 - 2007 Exam

A tutor has posted model solutions to the M208 exam, so I no longer have to send it off to be marked.

I will compare my answers with the answers posted on the Open University Maths course forum.

Altogether , I got 100/100.

MS221 Exam

As preparation for the MS221 exam in the Open University Maths course,I have had a go at the 2007 final exam.

I will send it off, and hopefully my tutor will mark it.

There is a lot of work for 3 hours. The exam seems to reward speed , rather than understanding.

I got 87% on TMA01 for my M208 Open University Maths Course.

There was quite a bit of new maths in it for me to learn,so it was quite interesting.

The deadline for submission is 20 May, so I have a bit of time to check the answers.

The maths is mostly new to me.

MST121 TMA01 Part 1

In the first Tutor Marked Assessment (TMA01) in the Open University Maths Course MST121, I got 20/20 for part 1.

M208 Open University Maths

I finally finished Open University Maths course M208 TMA02 (Tutor Marked Assessment)

It was about Group Theory.

The classification of all simple finite groups is one of the great achievements of mankind and much of science depends upon group theory, which is fundamental to all discussions of symmetries of the universe, space and time.

But it is a bit boring....

I think this is because Group Theory really is so basic to the universe. It describes the Lego bricks the world is made from. But one individual Lego brick is a bit dull, until you put a lot of them together.

M208 TMA02

In my Tutor Marked Assessment TMA02 in the Open University Maths Course M208, question 4 has taken me too long to do.

It was about elements which conjugate one element of a symmetric group to another element.

The maths in it is totally new to me. It took a while to work out what was going on, but I think I managed to work out what was going on.

At least, after I worked through all the answers,I managed to get from the start element to the end element correctly in every case.

MS221 TMA02

I have made good progress with the MS221 TMA02 (Tutor Marked Assessment) in my Open University Maths Course and it is nearly finished.

MS221 TMA02 Open University Maths Course

I have started work on the second Tutor Marked Assessment (TMA02) for the Open University Maths Course MS221.

It covers blocks B1 - Iteration, block B2 - Matrix Transformations and block B3 - Iteration with Matrices.

The assignment is due by 15 June 2011.

As almost all of this material is new to me, I think it might take me until Wednesday to do the TMA, as I have to learn a lot of new mathematics.

MST121 Open University Maths Course

I sent off my MST121 TMA 03 (Tutor Marked Assessment) today for the Open University Maths Course.

CMA51 MST121 Open University Course

I received the scores for my Computer Marked Assessment CMA51 on the MST121 Open University Maths Course.

I got 29/30 or 97%. The question I got wrong was by putting 10.712 as the answer instead of rounding it to 10.7.

TMA10 MST121 Open University Course

My Tutor Marked Assessment TMA10 for the Open University Maths Course MST121 came back today.

I got 98/100, dropping 2 marks because I input some numbers wrongly into the calculator - a careless mistake.

M208 Open University Maths

MS221 Open University Maths

I have finished the first TMA for course MS221 in February 2011.

It is not due until 4 April, so I will double-check it tomorrow before posting it off, as there are bound to be some typing errors.

In my M208 Maths Course with the Open University, I have almost finished typing out my answers for TMA04.

I have done the bulk of TMA 01, 03 and 04. TMA 02 is about group theory, so I have a bit of learning to do. I am about 20% of the way through it at present.

Open University MST121 course

I have handed in my first two TMA (Tutor Marked Assessments) for MST121 in my Open University Maths Course. They are TMA10 and TMA01.

They will not be marked for a while.

Installed Mathcad

As part of the M208 MST121 and MS221 maths modules in the Open University course, we have to have Mathcad.

I have installed that.

I have also done the first TMA (Tutor Marked Assessment) for MST121,so I am ahead of study schedule.

GCSE Resit results

I had 2 students resitting GCSE Higher in November.

The results came out yesterday, and one student got an A and the other student was one mark short of an A.
